The Winter Institute
The Winter Institute for Learning Assistance Professionals is a week-long, intensive program of presentations and workshops, small group mentoring, Special Interest Group meetings (SIGs), and participant dialogue, on a theme relating to a particular aspect of learning assistance.
This year's theme is "Today's Learning Center." In addition to learning center professionals, recent attendees have included faculty, academic advisors, and administrators from both Student and Academic Affairs.
The Winter Institute is based on a teaching and learning philosophy created by Frank L. Christ. The Winter Institute is designed to provide participants with learning experiences that can be translated into practical action at participants' home institutions.
The 2008 Winter Institute will be held at The Crossings - a wellness spa and meeting venue in Austin, Texas. The event is directed by Alan Constant, Darcy Barrick, and Pamela Way from the UT Learning Center.
